Kyle and Dione Stearns reside in Washington, DC and are the parents of two sons. During their rearing of their sons, the Stearns’ family home became the epicenter of activity for their sons and their sons’ friends. Often, the Stearns had front row seats to observe and interact with young people—something they mutually love. In these premium seats, the Stearns experienced joy and provided youth with assistance when challenges arose. Then like now, Kyle and Dione are passionate about helping young people. In their church ministry and in Kyle and Dione’s professional careers— a business owner and an attorney–the Stearns continue to mentor young people.

As the children of educators and businessmen, mentorship just might be in their genes. The Stearns understand the significant impact educational and business opportunities can make on a community. However, many youngsters, especially kids of color, lack the financial resources to pursue these opportunities. Under the Stearns’ tutelage, several young people have become business entrepreneurs. To address the need for educational opportunities, the Stearns created the Douglas J. Stearns foundation to provide educational scholarships.
